I can watch a crowd of people for a while and tell you why they are acting the way that they are acting. I can also tell by the way that people behave what will happen next...

ESP means Extra-sensory Perception. Extra in this case means "outside" of the normal range of perception--i.e., something that you can't find out through touch, sight, smell, hearing or taste. In other words, something you know, but don't use your five senses to know.

Good insight is born from good observation and using the five senses in skillful ways, then drawing conclusions based on your senses. It differs from ESP in that you can train yourself to have good insight whether or not you also have ESP; insight is a function of logical thought processes and ESP is not.

It's possible to learn a great deal from people just by watching them, so much that what just seems apparent/logical to you is something seems almost like magic to another.

It is partly an innate ability (related to one's personality) and partly something that you can train yourself to do over time, once you get experience in how people work and what usually results (and what it means) when certain types of personalities do certain things.

Some psychics without any powers use honed powers of observation and directed conversation called "cold reading" to figure out how to make it look like they've got special abilities.

ESP of course, means seeing something you normally could not see, or (telepathy) reading someone's thoughts you normally could not read.

The best readers, I think, are open-ended and understand that a certain behavior could have many different motivations. Good therapists usually have developed their ability to read people.

it is really good to have keen insight, but be sure to check your perceptions regularly with the people in question. otherwise, you may be systematically misinterpreting people and convincing yourself that you can get into other's heads (which you can't, unless you're telepathic)....

I get misunderstood all the time, because I am not a conventional person. I'm sure your insights might be rock solid with eighty percent of people, but that last twenty percent, not so much.
