The source of all evil is also the source of all good and these two things are in everyone and in everything, that's how they keep in balance.

Simple. Mankind is the source of all evil for as long as mankind lives, and wherever mankind will go. Mankind Drives, Nurtures and breeds evil by his own actions. Man wrote the bible with a human agender. Do you see how they are ever ready to blame God.
How sad, how tragic how pathetic man is that he denies his own history of evil to bring a case against god.....fools.

Depends on which mythology and religion. In Christianity, the devil. In Norse mythology, Loki. In Roman mythology, Pandora, she released the box of all evil, and so on. I like what you guys are saying. George W. Bush, clever, exactly what I was thinking. Money, I disagree; money is the root of some problems but not all them. Greed is evil. I believe though that the roots of evil are in all of us and it's up to us to be as good as we can be.

We are! The choices we make and choose not to make! The actions we take or choose not to take! The teachings, thoughts, and beliefs we choose not to challenge! The times that we are quiet and choose to ignore! Evil needs someone or a means to express itself - we all consciously or unconsciously allow evil to express itself in some form -no matter how small.

The source of the first evil action was pride; Lucifer thought his way was better and wanted the glory and recognition for that decision attributed to himself rather than God. In short, he believed his way was better than God's. Evil as a defined act, was disobedience- Lucifer choosing to rebel in heaven against God.

Childishness. Immaturity.
One of the scariest Twilight Zones was the one of the boy (Billy Mumy) who had supernatural powers, but no self-control or empathy for anyone or anything.
Sounds Kind-a like Human Kind, doesn't it.
All this brain power without the ability to understand consequences.

A lack of intelligence.
Evil is generally its own reward ... the evil suffer the end results of their own stupidity. The inability to see end consequences is one of (though by no means the only) indicia of a lack of brain-power.
Be smart, be good, and life will take care of you.
Some religions call this "karma" and trust the followers to see the light, others rely on dogma to try to preclude the stupidity of their adherents. Whatever the method, all philosophies ultimately command, "Be good."
Try it.

God.
She is the source of everything, both that which we call good and that which we call evil. If we imagine differently, then God loses half her power and is God no longer.
