The first and foremost duty is not to complain about living conditions. If you don't like it here, get the f*ck out!

Actually there IS patriotic duty to America.. you didn't earn being a citizen here (unless you are a legal 1st gen. Immigrant), you were priviledged to be born here, in clean hospitals where you will be taken care of even if you have no insurance, you have rights(some of which are taken advantage of by citizens), and you have the opportunity become whoever and whatever you want. you should hold your head a little higher because of what your country stands for, you should feel a little safer at night because you don't have to worry about bombings or raids on your home, you should support our country whether you believe in its politics or not, don't complain about ANYTHING because you have it far better than any other country in the world.. and if you don't think so then go to the country who you thinks has it the best.. and STAY there

The most patriotic of duties is the one duty that is most often forsaken. Casting an informed ballot. To vote for someone because of name recognition, party affilliation, or because your church or union told you to is no better than not voting. The fundamental need for democracy to work is the wisdom of the masses. When the masses don't contribute, or defer to the wisdom of others, democracy breaks down.

To pick as much cotton as you can and do everything the boss man tells you. You should thank him for letting you keep a very small portion of the proceeds from the work you do, even though it doesn't even cover the interest on what you owe him.

I believe it is the duty of every American to give back some of what their country gives them. I am proud to be an American (cliche yes but I don't care). I will not hesitate to fight for this country and our form of government. Name a place on earth where you can enjoy more freedom?

Willingly obey the law.

Attempt to change the laws with which you disagree, and if you cannot, obey them willingly. Do not violate laws simply because you disagree with them.

Maintain as much involvement in the political process as reasonably possible, at a minimum, register & vote.

There's no such thing as patriotic duty unless you believe in such concepts. Theoretically, the nation exists to serve the citizens, not the other way around.
