1st lime wire is up anmd running- just dont share that's is the bad thing.. hit preferences not to share in ur options tho.. in the limewire some lol programs when u hit not to share u could share ur whole hard drive out there so make sure u hit not to share.. so wot if they ask u to be kind to give back and share take wot u need get rid of it then reload as needed.. the fine per song was at grokster once was 700 per song -wow do not share..apparently it is on the market still that site or any of them still they aren't banned to share- if u was a band would you want to lose money thru the sharing thing? but then again if i buy a cd and want to share it with my friend then i paid already for it and consider it a wordly gift.. remember loading from different users who do share u can get viruses and worms so look up option of the user who shares it to the program u can ask to get more from same sharer if they accept to cummunicate - find a reputable source some are corrupt mp3's and some ppl just dont have quality full length songs this is why buying is good!

I live in Canada and download, sorry, "fileshare", from Limewire all the time. It's that fileshare technology that make s it semi-legal in Canada. You can access songs and such from other Limewirers' libraries. In the US, I think it is illegal. It is a branch of the original Napster company, that one that became illegal in America. If you are worried about copyrights, if a song/video/picture/whatever has a license, it will be displayed if you have at least the 4.9.37 version.

You are right, I was under the understanding that LImewire was to have been shut down because it is violating copyrights.
It is illegal.
Even so, think about it, how would you feel if you worked hard on something, and then rather then people paying for it, some one was giving it away?
I would guess that you would be upset. If you can't afford, get a job and get only what you can afford.

Dear Craig..
Something in limewire is illegal but the same program is legal.
limewire is a very good program without any spyware and adware and maleware on it, but the viruses is not only in limewire, the viruses is in all peer to peer programs (p2p) like kazaa, imesh, bearshare, shareaza etc...., so if you need to download any thing from any of these programs you may have antivirus program like norton antivirus or mccafee or AVG or Kaspersky etc... (norton is the best), so if you need to use any of these programs, just be patient with viruses.
but i need to give you advice....
limewire is a very good program, and only p2p program that winner best file sharing program, so if you need to get rid of viruses from it, just don't download any files least than 1 MB because contains viruses.
And i have limewire from 1 year ago, is a awesome program.
you're welcom, and if you have any other problems please reply me.

This is an age-old debate. A lot of it comes down to opinion. I think that the software ITSELF is not illegal. It's what you do with it that is.
as an analogy :
It is -NOT- illegal to own a firearm in the united states. It is illegal to shoot someone in the head with it however.
I own about 40 knives (i'm an avid chef), no crime there.. but if I decide to stab my girlfriend, then there is a crime.
Limewire itself is not illegal in my opinion.
However, if you go on limewire, and download adobe photoshop cs2 + crack + keygen .. YOU ARE COMMITTING A CRIME.
If you download "Superman Returns Screener" YOU ARE COMMITTING A CRIME.
Downloading Fedora Core ? Not illegal.
Unsigned recording artist who is sharing his own music (by that, i mean stuff he wrote/recorded/sang himself) ? Not illegal.
This is all up to interpretation, however.
This is different than the legality, of say, backing up your OWN purchased dvd movies and audio cd's. - The RIAA & MPAA want to make it illegal for you to copy your Batman Begins DVD to a 80cent blank dvd for the purposes of not ruining the original disk, and I think that their goal is in OPPOSITION to the AHRA.
