Another odd comic question. Yes, comics are more popular now than they have been in years. You'd be surprised how many movies are based on comics. You've got From Hell, Road to Perdition, V for Vendetta, A History of Violence, Ghost World, Etc.
It's actually not that difficult to buy comics. Either go to a comic store, or go to one of the large bookstore chains.

That all depends on what kind of comic book you're talking about. Obviously, there are a few people left that will read vintage copies (they just protect them from all things destructive such as fingerprints, dust, bookworms, and nuclear holocausts). For the people that read more recent ones...it's usually a vampire story or something anime or gothic that you have to read backwards (in other words...novel comics).

We buy them for the kids for long trips, but ordinarily, no. With so many entertainment options for kids, paper comic books are fast becoming a relic of a bygone era, like radio programs of the 40's and 50's. The industry still thrives, but people aren't really reading them so much as collecting them as investments.

of course!!! people do still read comics!!!! in the newspapers, comic strips like garfield, calvin and hobbes, archie... and MAINLY because of DC comics and MARVEL comics.!!!.. many people still read them coz of new events. for example,,, in MARVEL there is the CIVIL WAR where the group of IRon Man goes head to head with the group of Captain america, warring about a law or something that would be passed.. in DC, there is the INFINITE CRISIS, where many superheroes dies and other heroes appear!!! ... civil war and infinite crisis WILL make big changes in MARVEL universe and DC universe... and comics nowadays especially on DC and MARVEL!!! and because of the release of previous films like spiderman, it urges other people to go into comics, maybe because of curiosity. and the current film SUPERMAN RETURNS, and dc comics is even releasing a 4-issue mini-series PREQUEL to the movie!! so this also urges people to go get the comics.. and the storylines in marvel and dc are becoming more and more excellent!! because their writers are coming up with meaningful stories and great action!!!! Their comics also have AWESOME ART!!! unlike in the past. =p

I don't know what toolman is talking about, the geeks already rule the world, the ones like me have complete sway over public opinion and your pocketbook. We call ourselves graphic artists, and we can change what you think of a product or person with a single image.

anyway, I know plenty of people who read comics still, there are reasons Sandman, batman, JTHM, Superman, and spiderman are still in print.

Here in Singapore youths walk around all the time reading comics. Despite what you'd expect, a large majority of them are girls. I think this depends on the culture.

I like Japanese comics - Manga

Manga is so much thicker than normal comics. Its so awesome! Takes so much time to read one!

I reccomend: Pita-Ten manga. Cute characters, sweet story line and its funny too.
