My mother is getting extremely frustrated because this one cat keeps pooping in where she plants her tomato trees...the cat has got it in for us because whenever she plants anything, the next day, we find a heap of mess exactly there!

We cannot try orange peels because the slugs get to it...has anyone got any homely ideas?

P.S. cat repellant does not work on this beast! lol

We had the same problem so I read a gardening book and came up with a solution.
It said to put 2 cups of vinegar in a jar. Add a few garlic cloves. Crush them a bit to release the odor. Next add some chopped hot peppers to this disgusting mess. I didn't have fresh hot peppers so I used some chilli flakes. Lots I might add. I kept the lid on the jar and poked holes in the lid after 2 hours. Then I sprinkled the resulting liquid around the perimiter of the flower beds in our yard.
I am not kidding, I have not seen a cat or a dog in our yard since. It doesn't hurt them(maybe they get a snoot full of peppers or just hate the smell)
Oh, and the smell is not detected by us shortly after it is sprinkled on the ground.
Try it and you will be pleased with the result.

My mother had this same problem on the side of her house where she plants alot of flowers. She put some nice colorful rocks about the size of two softballs in the flower bed and spaced them so the cat's are confused. Cat's find a place to scrach the ground before they do there thing, if they are confused they will go elsewhere. This worked for her and it also added some charm to her flower garden.

Try Garlic Powder. Cats don't like the smell and it won't hurt the plants. I use it in my flower beds at the beginning of spring and usually don't have a cat problem, Even my own won't go there.
Get a the cheep stuff and just sprinkle it generously on the top of the ground or mix it in, it doesn't matter. it's not going to hurt anything,

You cat buy electronic cat repellents which emit an irregular sound, undetectable to humans, which will prevent them from entering your garden. You could also make a 'litter tray' for them in part of your garden (a small sand pit type area which you would need to keep clean for them). Other than that, get a dog!

moth balls or crystals in the dirt around the plants. Also these will help remove cat urine smells in the house flooring. My sister-in-law told me that one when I had an old cat that was sick. We sprinkled a whole can of crystals around our kitched carpet and left on vacation for a week. REALLY worked. course it took a while to get the moth ball smell out of the house.

Find someone who will allow you to brush their dog. Then take the loose dog hair and lay it around the border of the bed.

The smell of the dog should keep the cat away. The other option is to lay cardboard strips covered with a strip of double-stick tape around the border. Cats hate to step in double-stick!
