Depends on how you use it. Watching videos, of course, sucks up the most power.

To get the most playing time:
1. turn off the backlight on the screen.
2. do not fast forward thru songs.
3. turn off any e.q. settings.
4. make certain you have the most recent iPod software updates.

Ipod video battery is very short!! That's why I'm planning on getting a new mp3, but anyway, I watched a video for about 30 minutes and the battery already turned red, meaning it didn't have much battery power left....it sucks...

heck no it isn't 5 hours!

I have one, and it runs up to 14 hours, depending on what you are doing (battery lasts longer if your listening to music rather than watching videos)

Probably about 7+ hours to watch videos, 14 hours to listen to music.

I love it like woah.

I think 5 hours is very poor.

If you get the zen vision M (Creative Labs), you'll get better sound quality and probably double the battery life.

It may also be a little cheaper.

It's software is much more user-friendly.
