you should try www.piczo.com. it has a what you see is what you get editor so u can have fun designing ur blog without following any templates whatsoever. and u can add pictures, music, chatboxes, animations and all the other stuff without any html knowledge. i think it's perfect for beginners.

If you are interested in what people are doing in the middle east go to Sabbahs Blog. Just do a serch for it, the address is long. It has serious and funny stuff to and womens issues. Really made me think about how my life is in the USA.

Live Journal, but just becareful what you put in the blog. You never know whoes reading it, and in some cases, people have been unable to get jobs, because of how much info they post in their blogs.
