Q: What's the value of a contour integral around Western Europe? A: Zero, because all the Poles are in Eastern Europe.

furthermore, cauchy tells us that the contour integral for any closed surface is zero.

Poland is not in Western Europe, but there are certainly Poles living there. Consequently, the contour integral would be infinite. At the same time, Western Europe does not lie in the complex plane, so the question is not entirely well posed.
