If yes, at what age can they do that, and why can they?

If no, in what ways could they get rid of you from their care?

I checked into this and apparently, yes a parent can at age 16. I have had six different teen friends of my sons living here with us when their parents did throw them out over the last five years.

I personally would never do it. I feel that they are my responsibility until they are 18. And even at 18, I don't think most young people are ready to make it on their own... (There are always the exceptions... the ones who mature faster).

Unfortunately, so many kids today are so lazy and disrespectful, and they have no moral ethics, that the parents have hit the point of just giving up on the kids. They steal from their own family, lie about everything, don't want to start a job at the bottom and work their way up, think they should be treated with the respect of an adult without having to do anything to earn that respect. I have spoken to these parents, and they all feel that if the kid had to experience just how hard it is out there, perhaps they will come away with a new appreciation of just what they had at home.

According to the police, they will not pursue the child or the parents if the child is 16 or 17. Now if someone throws an 8 year old out... that is a different matter. Child welfare will also not do anything as long as the child is 16 or 17.

What is disturbing is that teens today don't think that they should have to help out around the house to earn their keep. They have no idea just how expensive it is to raise a kid. They seem to feel it is their right that the parents just give, give, give. All that seems to matter to them is going off with their friends, rap music, sex, drugs, and having fun. Until they mature, and wise up to the fact that there are no "free lunches" in the real world... we are going to find more and more older teens out on the streets.

in the US you can't get thrown out until your 18. The only way they get rid of you is to turn you over to a group home or social services. But even then they better have a darn good reason. And at 16 you can actually protest the court to become emancipated. it's a long shot though

Well legally they can't throw you out til your 18, but they can send you to a home but that would only be if you were bad so in your case I wouldn't be able to totally answer your question but if you didn't do anything their are not able to get rid of you till the day you turn 18.

16 they can throw you out Social services will help you if your parents tell them that you are no longer welcome in their house. But they will send you to a foster home till the age of 18 or you have to live in a home with a responsible adult. Myself it is unmorall to turn your back on your kids. But us as parents are legally responsible for what our children do untill the age of 18.

Yes but they can be d responsible for you until you turn 18. Legally you become an adult at 18 that is when you can vote, drink, gamble. that's in the UK don't know about other countries

P.S. yes you can get married at sixteen but with your parent/Guardians consent

Parents only have to look after you until you turn 16 - then you are legally old enough to get a job and look ater yourself.

BUT - parents should never kick their kids out - under no circumstances, no matter what. You should never disown your kids or leave them to fend for themselves until you know they are ready for it, and it is their choice.

You could be 17 but really vunerable so age shouldn't come into it. A parent should know when a child can leave home, and not force them.

Your parents can put you out anytime with no age limit. Why, because your being disobedient
or they don't want you there. Are you lazy and don't do anything? There are many questions you may need to ask yourself. Are you putting your own self out, with your actions?
