itdepends on so many different factors there is no proper answer given the limited info. been fishing close to 60 yrs. do what i do. poke around where you are going to fish. talk to the local fishermen and women. ask them and look at what their using and catching.ask at the local bait shops. look for local newspaper fishing column or pick up local fishing magazine at bait shop-usually free. they generally tell whats biting and what tackle or bait to use . i think youll find most fishermen very frendly and helpful. many even will share bait and tackle, especially to a young girl which i think you may be. good luck

For fresh water fishing Trout,: worms ( night crawlers) Power Bait, Salmon eggs.
Bass and Strippers: worms, lures,crawdads
Saltwater: Jigs,cut up fish as bait, sardines ,anchovies,

Depends on what you are fishing for. Different fish take different bait. For general use, use worms or crickets, most fish like them.

i like squid cause its so easy to bait and stays on your hook but i think pilchard is really good for small bait fish and for burley i like using just normal slice bread mushed up in a bucket of water small fish seem to love it.... also i would like to add i love it when i see a woman thats interested in fishing, not being sexist but its rare well for me anyway.... i love fishing i think its great so peaceful and exciting at times depends what your catching enjoy

Depends on what you are fishing if you are fishing for bass we use shrimp or mackrel or gasbaro for trout worms, corn just about anything. tell us what you are fishing for.
