Bobby Thomson's shot heard 'round the world.
"Hartung down the line at third, not taking any chances. Lockman without too big of a lead at second -- but he'll be running like the wind if Thomson hits one. Branca throws . . . There's a long drive! It's going to be, I believe . . .! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! Bobby Thomson hits into the lower deck of the left field stands! The Giants win the pennant! And they're going crazy! They're going crazy! Oh, ho!" -- Russ Hodges, Giants play-by play broadcaster
The ESPN era...
October 15, 1988
Hobbling Kirk Gibson's walk off HR in game one of the World series against the A's.
"Gibson . . . swings! And a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5-4! I don't believe what I just saw! . . . I don't believe what I just saw!" -- Jack Buck, CBS Radio.
Most memorable moment for me...
October 13, 1960
Bill Mazeroski's walk off HR in game seven of the WS against the Yankees
The perfect ending to such a bizarre series that saw the Pirates winning all their games by a close margin, while the Yankees blew us out in all their victories.
Game one
Pirates win 6-4
Game two
Yankees win 16-3
Game three
Yankees win 10-0
Game four
Pirates win 3-2
Game five
Pirates win 5-2
Game six
Yankees win 12-0
Game seven
Pirates win 10-9

They still call it "The Catch," and you know what they mean. For those who don't, it was Willie Mays making an over-the-shoulder catch of Vic Wertz's drive in the first game of the 1954 World Series on September 29. Not only was his back to the ball when he caught it, but then Mays spun around and pegged a perfect throw back to the infield.
The Cleveland Indians, who had won 111 games that year, were so demoralized that the Giants swept them in 4.
The most memorable play I actually saw (albeit on television) occurred on May 31, 1964 in the 14th innning (of 23!). Galen Cisco, a starting pitcher (all the relievers had been used), had just come in for the Mets and quickly put Jesus Alou on second and Willie Mays on first with nobody out. Orlando Cepeda hit a hard line drive almost straight up the middle, but somehow shortstop Roy McMillan speared the thing and landed on both feet on top of second base. Mays was so surprised he had fallen down scrambling to get back to first, and all McMillan had to do was walk over and tag him, but he took no chances and threw over to Eddie Kranepool to complete the triple play.

The beginning of a defensive genuis' Hall of Fame career.
When Ozzie Smith was with the Padres, in his rookie year (I think), he was (of course) playing SS, and the batter scooted a grounder up the middle. Smith had a bead on it and was diving to his left, when the ball took an unexpected hop. The Wizard sticks his hand up in the air, as he is diving to the left, and grabs the ball. He pops back up and throws the runner out at first. Simply amazing.
And just to add a little icing to the cake, I believe this was voted #1 on Fox Sports' The Sports List.

Bill Wambsganns (or something like that) unassisted triple play in the early 1920's. Think about what that involved.
