People are hating the Portuguese for playing "dirty" with the Netherlands, and England, but seriously, both teams played the same. Even though im American, I am honestly a hardcore Portugal fan. Im not gonna lie--i was pretty disapointed in how some of the players played in those 2 games, but when you actually think about it, they didnt play the way that everyone keeps saying they did. They are a good team, who play strongly together. People should stop criticising them, because they have to be really good to make it to the quarterfinals. Making it to where they are now is not going to come with acting, and tricks, and diving or whatever stuff people say they do.

Netherlands played the most dirty footbal in the championship. Where is that fair-play? Portugal play as hard as other teams do.

I am from Republika Srpska, Bosnia&Herzegovina, and I like to see Portugal as new world champions too.

P.S. Ronaldo is more actor then team player. I hope that Pauleta and Deco will take more deceisive roles in next two games.

Portugal plays just like any other team. Portugal never gets any media attention like other tema, I was watching the game against England, even the commentators were all England, oh well, it's that pride thing, teams coming up with excuses for their lose to a team and country which is smaller in size and population..

Excuses for losing is a sore losers best friend :P

As for the Holland game, read ppl, even in yahoo's sport section where they interviewed the ref, he said he was expecting Portugal to make fouls but he specifically said that Holland was the instigator in almost all the incidents, but yet all these media people make it as Portugal plays dirty...

And as for the English game, you read everywhere, England losses, no Rooney or Beckham. Did the media forget Portugal wasn't playing without 2 of their starts too, Constinga and Deco..

If people wants to talk their ****, let them, just remember Portugal has finished Second in the 2004 Euro, and their in the Semi's in the world, and are on a 17 game unbeaten streak, what more proff do you need that their a good team?

Let people hate, it just shows that their threatened or bitter to lose against Portugal....

Most **** talkers are those who know little to nothing about soccer and get their info from what they hear and not what they see.... my 2 cents

I am!! It's not fair. If you look at the other teams, there also theatrics involved, e.g. Italy. I think all teams do this, but for whatever reason, they want to pinpoint it on Portugal. I think it's easier to find a scapegoat and blame them, instead of admitting they are a good team. Aside from the messy Netherlands game (that both sides played), Maniche's goal was brilliant. And I'm sorry but Rooney deliberately stepped on Ricardo Carvalho's groin area. But it's so easy to rush and say it was Cristiano that sent him out, but it was Rooney's actions that did it. If people watched the replays, no one forced the referee to give a gard, he came to that judgment based on what he saw. And this nonsense going around the internet that he was so many yards away to see anything is bull. He was close to what was going on, and blew the whistle when players started going down. People neglect to mention (or easily forget) that Rooney has a history of aggressive behavior in past matches in U. Man's games. Cristiano defended his team mate, just like anybody would in that situation. Sorry, and with Beckham out (what people want to blame that on Portugal too?), England had not been playing well up until then. I think in the end the team with the most heart won out. The penalty shoot out said it all. What is Portugal to be blamed for that, as well? England had an opportunity. They could have capitalized on it, but didn't. Please look at this rationally and stop hating people!!!

Even in Canada people are constantly hating on Portugal or Portuguese people. My boyfriend is Portuguese and Itailans are always telling Portugal is going down they suck. etc. Hopefully one day Portugal can win the world cup and prove everyone wrong. They are always cheated out of Euro cups and World Cups. At least this world cup they went far then they have in a long time. For some reason the ref don't call things that happen to Portugal.

Nope. In fact bring it on. They deserve all the crap they get if they continue to dive like they are being shot at the smallest whiff of a tackle.

By the way Matt Ronaldo clearly can't 'destroy a defense single handily'. Did you actually watch the England Vs Portugal match?

If you had you would have seen that he didn't and he couldn't as Hargreaves had him most of the time. Hargreaves was probably the best player on that pitch, way better than ronaldo, and he deserved to get the title Man Of The Match.

(By the way who do u think Man U will get rid of an easily replaceable fall back like Ronaldo or hard to come by striker like Rooney....? Haha easy decision bye bye Ronaldo....surely that's shows just how great he is at er 'destroying the defense' hahaha go cry in a corner over Ronaldo no one else willl)...GOOD RIDDANCE

Well Done Hargreaves

Well Done England

Bye Bye Cristiano Ronaldo (From Man U and any English side for that show)

Boo Portugal ( if they continue their oscar performances)

Bring on the comments .........

Portugal played a pretty clean game compared to the Italian team. But, it was the quarter-finals. Teams that were playing really classy games during the round-robin are now playing more questionably now that their life is on the line every game.

My friend I agree with you but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I am Italian but will be cheering for Portugal. By the way they are in the semis, not the quarters. good luck to Portugal.
