I expect a scientific approach to the problem, i don't want any silly, romantic dreamers writing poems for answers.

Time is the fourth dimension if you go by Einstein's theory.

What time really amounts to is change. In order for the first three dimensions to change, you have to have a context in which to view the change. Without time, nothing could move. Everything would just happen all at once.

Of course, there are also some other schools of thought that claim everything does happen all at once, and time is just an illusion to separate events so that our five senses can perceive each thing properly.

You decide what you want to believe.

Time is only the nervous-system's way of coping with reality. Imagine the Earth rotating around the Sun, with the Moon orbiting the Earth. If you cut away a section of this, say 5 months worth, and viewed it as if it all happened at the same time, you'd see a blue line (the Earth) with a grey cork-screw around it (the moon). This is closer to reality than our perception of time. Evidence suggets that everything from the big bang to the end of time actually all occurred at once, and that time is only the way we make sense of our surroundings. Theres a great artice about this in Scientific American. I can't remember which issue, but it was less than a year ago.

first of all I don't know if you are familiar with mathematics. If not a good start is to read "A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME" by Stephen W. Hawking, professor of mathematics at Cambridge University. And u can search on web about this topic. Here is a link about the book: http://www.generationterrorists.com/quotes/abhotswh.html. Time in a scientific way is a very complex term. But this book is very good start if you don't want mathematics.

Time is one of the few fundamental quantities.
These are quantities which can not be defined via other quantities
Thus, similar to definition of other fundamental quantities (like space and mass), the unit of time alone is defined.

One can understand time only by intution

The defintion that time is the interval or period between two events is not a defintion because we dont know what is period or interval with out the definition of time.

Time is the Universe-wide phenonemon that keeps everything from happening all at once. You can't really too scientific with this as all of the equations relating to time assume time a priori.

Time is an illusion and can be defined in any number of ways or measured by the passing of "sunrises" and "sunsets".
Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years...illusionary structures of various occupants of civilizations to get people moving and placed at designated coordinates for any number of reasons.
Time is an invention to control people.

You probably won't get a scientific answer, the true nature of time is still an elusive mystery, if you do find out, I want to know also.

Time and Space are conceptual. Even this world is imaginary.

Please read the following book.

Read that ancient scripture. It talks everything about blackholes, time travel, particle-wave theory, aliens, consciousness, mind, matter, energy, creation, Relativity, cosmic dissolution, unified theory, psychology, bondage, liberation, salvation, god, magic, powers, flying, walking through walls etc.

Everyone should read it atleast once in their lifetime.

It will liberate you for sure!

I guarantee it will change your life. Those who don't read it or cannot access it and follow it are really unlucky. Salutations to them. Those who can read it and follow it are great. Salutations to them.

Time is to feel(by human mind) a state change( of any thing). So it is one of unique human phenomenon, having no peers in animal mental fields. It is a mental continuos comparison between a previous memorized state of sth and its current state, and its later expected state. If there were no changes noticed, there would not be any effect, feeling of ,and existance of Time in this case.Time stops when detecting changes stop.
