Using polymer clay, (the kind that bakes hard in the oven) have them make beads or pendants.
They can make and decorate their own bulletin boards for their rooms out of cork tiles, foam sheets and shapes, and paint.
Painting flower pots is pretty, and practical. Decorating picture frames with shells, stones or buttons is also a good idea for older kids. Use a low-temp hot-glue gun to attach things to the frames.

Bead kits are good - boys or girls - we used them in Cub Scouts - make keychains etc

this isn't really CRAFT.... but kids really like to make food such as personal pizzas.... personal taco salads... have them help make the whole thing and let them choose what they want on them.
