When in fact they're own team has far worse examples-Rooney's stamp to b#lls, Crouch pulling Sancho's hair, Cole diving in the box etc.

No not really as everyone is entitled to their own opinion - mine is that Ronaldo did his utmost to ensure Rooney got wound up - he knows the temperament of the Rooney well enough to know how to get to him. He had no need to go running over to confront the referee or Rooney - I would like PANCHO and other posters who say England always blame defeat on someone else to provide some clear and solid evidence of this, come on put your money where your mouth is (apart from the hand-of-god incident) - I think you will find the truth is that we usually accept defeat in good grace if the other team has outplayed us. At the end of the day Portugal created very very little even against 10 men, and some Portuguese players were clearly using gamesmanship to gain an advantage. C Ronaldo is well known in England for feigning injury and diving and mouthing off and trying to influence referees to book players and winding up other players - a horrible little man - shame really as he is quite a talent.

It is not just the Portuguese- there is a whole bunch of Latin players out there who are no more than big girls blouses. Most of them couldn't take a cream puff without going down and rolling over 10 times. Imagine as a supporter sitting watching that shite week in week out. Best moment of yesterday was Rio's tackle on Nuno Valente inside the 18 yard box. A good old fashioned bone cruncher and he didnt complain so he has learned something at Everton. As for Carvalho, I am not so sure he has any goolies for Roo to tread on. Ronaldo doesn't so the sooner he pisses off to Madrid the better.

This is absolutely true. But you need to look at the Super Bowl this year-- Seahawks fans blamed the refs in order to cope with the loss. Now, for England fans, this is the Super Bowl times 10. The only way they can keep from completely breaking down is by saying that Portugal cheated because in their minds Portugal's team was inferior to them.

I would not accuse them of cheating as such, but I think their cynical gamesmanship (most hideously typified by Ronaldo's sly wink after he interfered to get Rooney sent off) will have won them few friends - I now hope anyone (yes even the Germans) win the thing rather than crybaby Portugal...

we did not behave as badly as Portugal did, always falling over and as soon as the ref blew the whistle, they were up immediately, cheaters, we didn't do that, and Rooney didn't purposely step on the blokes b******* but i did laugh, no sympathy, accidents happen, no one would be saying cheaters without good reason, and the people taking the p*** are the ones who have already been kicked out of the World Cup, or are the ones breathing a sigh of relief that England unfairly lost.

I wish they would just shut up and get on with it. Their team havnt got what it takes to make the final and win it. They might be good enough to beat some (no chance ) teams to qualify but not go the full way and as soon as the English realise this they will find the rest of the world wont noise them up as much as we do.

I'm fed up with people from all countries making excuses, and I'm pretty sure I'll end up being fed up with the portuguese fans making excuses when they eventually lose. The match is 90 minutes long, plenty of time to make up for cheating, allegedly paid off reps, etc.

That cretin Christiano (wanker) Ronaldo he biggest cheat of all it's through him that Rooney sent off, he said he was going to get rooney sent off and he did. His life won't be worth living in Manchester no wonder he wants a transfer. I hope he gets lynched before he goes.

no-the portugese displayed all the traits of the modern game by throwing themselves to the floor every time they were even brushed by an english player and showed incredibly bad sportsmanship by getting rooney sent off the way that htey did-we're all narked that we are out but i think its the manner of the defeat and especially the bad sportsmanship that hurts the most

They need to calm down. They lost fair and square. What have they won in the past 50 years anyway. Instead of always blaming someone else, perhaps they should think about why they always choke.
