I'd use whatever I could get to do things I want/need done.

Potentially, that's almost everything.  Average US electric consumption is about 450 billion watts.  The estimated wind power available in the US is 1200 billion watts, with another 900 billion watts available off-shore on the east and west coasts.  You can do just about anything with electricity that you can with coal, oil or gas except make plastics and stuff out of it.

The problem is that you can't buy things that let you get from A to B.  Toyota and Honda both make partly electric (hybrid) cars, but you can't plug them into the wall to run them partly on wind power or solar power.  You can buy a refrigerator that runs on heat instead of electricity, but try finding one that runs on SOLAR heat instead of propane or kerosene!

I'd have to build all my own stuff to go completely renewable, and then I'd have to spend all my time keeping it up.  When I can buy equipment that has warranties and service outlets, I'll use as much renewable energy as I can.

I would use wind. Wind blows, it never sucks

However there's a saying in New Mexico. They say that Arizona blows and Texas sucks, and I believe they're talking about the prevailing atmosphere. It's just a figure of speech.

But yes, to answer your question -- the really wonderful thing about wind as a renewable resource is that it never sucks. I don't think there has ever been a single case in the annals of meterology where it has been shown that wind sucked.

You'll probably say, "What about tornadoes? Tornadoes suck." Sure, but we don't ever use tornadoes as a renewable resource; we use wind, and wind doesn't suck.
I rest my case.
