Contrary to popular belief this usage is not lazy or indecent nor is it as recent as many of you seem to think. At least as far back as the time of the American Revolution pls or plz was used in place of please in correspondence , again after the introduction of the telegraph, and most recently with the advent of text messaging, and all for the same reason, cost. During the early days of our country both paper and ink were expensive, so there were accepted methods of abbreviation to cram as much information into a letter as possible pls (or plz) was one example of this. When sending telegrams you were charged by the word (as in typing every 5 characters not actual words) so once again pls was used (among many other shortcuts u for you and so on) to make the sending of a message as cost effective as possible. As for text messaging, when first introduced, you may recall, we were charged per message we sent, so cutting letters out of messages meant a single text could be sent instead of two. It became a habit that carried over onto the internet, even though the need for the abbreviation no long exists,,,,to be fair though I am fairly sure you type OK or okay instead of Orl Korrekt which is the widely accepted original phrase the abbreviation came from, so can you really cast stones?

If you overheard something they mean they don't want to have to explain something rude or dodgy to you; that you would be tainted by it. So if you are underage or whatever. Or its also a polite jokey way of getting out of talking about something they would prefer to keep private.
But if they brought up the subject and steered you to that point in the conversation in the first place, then refused to explain what they meant; the underlying message may be a game of one - upmanship. In that context its like hinting that they know something you don't, the same as someone who hints they know gossip but then won't tell you. Its a power kick, making you feel like an outsider or inferior.
So it depends on the context in which it was said.

They're probably laughing because they find the issue a little embarassing. This is why they won't go into it. Probably they really mean that they have experienced too much and have lost their simple and open perspective on things. They are in awe of your innocence, I think, but they don't reallly admit this, to themselves or to you.

Usually I have found if someone uses that term, it's their way of saying they think you're ignorant about what they're talking about. Not to be harsh, but you asked and if anyone is laughing and saying that at the same time I'm afraid that's what it means. But the clincher is, they usually only resort to that when they're intimidated by something you're doing. And if they say it in front of other people they look like idiots! So a win win for you!

Perhaps they mean that evidenced by your reaction to something said or observed...the topic of conversation should be changed. They felt what was being discussed would be offensive or shocking to someone (they observed) as being unusually innocent (lacking knowledge or experience) of the matters at hand.

you're a good boy and would be offended or disagree with the evil things they will say or do.
in a litterary sense innocent means naive or not knowing the evil of the world. but girls who laugh and call you innocent mean that you're a good and proper type.

If they are laughing when they say this and decline to say what they mean by it they are probably just trying to shoot up their egos. They probably feel somewhat down not showing it and feel the need to do whatever to make them feel better about themselves.

They mean you are too nice to learn certain things in life until you are older it means they care about you and do not want you to learn unpleasant things at your age. I am pleased for you that you have nice people around you.
