if u think they are "bad" because they are illegal, would u change your tune if they were made legal? and if u think they are "bad" because of the effects they have on people, consider the fact that alcohol (a legal drug) will impair u more than any other illegal drug around (I've never heard of a family of 6 being wiped out by a stoner)

I think both are bad. Pot got my husband fired from an awesome job cause his dumb a-- couldn't pass the drug test, cocaine rotted my ex-boyfriend (before marriage) to the point that he was either asleep or violent. Alcohol is no better. I'm not saying that people shouldn't have any vices, cause everyone has one of some sort, but personally I don't let any drugs and very little alcohol around me. (husband quit pot cause I threw all his stuff in the front yard for making us almost starve after losing his job and told him to choose pot or me and his 6 month old son).

They are bad because of the effect that they have on people. The reason you don't hear about a stoner wiping out a family of 6 is not because it hasn't happened, it is because the law enforcement that responded to the scene did not check for the use of the illegal substance because they do not have the means or equipment readily available (requires a blood test) wheras a breathlyzer is portable and about every police car. Even if there are fatalities, unless there is a reasonable cause for investigation requested to check for narcotics, it may not be checked.

Pot kills all ambition a person has to do anything meaninful with their life and concaine hypes you up so much that you will do almost anything to get the money for your next hit. If it were legalized it would just mulitply the problems that already exist with both and there would be as many people stoned as there are drunk (much like the late 60's and early '70's).

actually there have been several fatal accidents caused by "stoner" like behavior, but you have to research it because the world is so focused on "the alcohol problem".
personally, i dont like the effect it has on ppl.
would i go out and try some pot tomorrow if it were legalized? No, i wouldnt...ive made it this far without trying it, im not interested. i dont look down on ppl that try it, or use it. ppl will do what they will, i just hope to educate enough of them to "using responsibly" as they say when using alcohol. there isnt a difference between alcohol and pot. they are both addictive, to ppl that are more prone to addictive behavior.
some ppl will drink lots of beer, and be fine with that and not drink again for months. others will crave it, and consume vast amounts eventually becoming an alcoholic.
same with pot. some will try it not really care for it, or it was "just a one time thing", while others worship it! they sport the marijuana t-shirts, tattoos, they wear hemp clothing...and stand up to defend their "drug of enlightenment".
cocaine and heroine for that matter used to be legal in America..and other places. back in the late 1800's and early 1900's cocaine was used in many different things, and was thought to be a wonderful drug. it was "in fashion" for a time. rich ppl used it, poor ppl used it. Heroine was used in many things as well...including baby teething liquid. as shocking as that may be, ppl were niave to the effects and the addictiveness of those powerful drugs.
we have learned from our past...and that is why these drugs are illegal.

I have heard of a families being wiped out by a stoner, or a meth head. Guess I've been around longer to see the effects of drug use in our society. The day these sort of illegal drugs become legal will be a very sad day indeed in this Nation. That calls itself great.

You make a very good point about Alcohol, and yes, it is legal and it does have effects on our society. Broken families, failing health for alcoholics, death on the roadways, etc. I don't know if there is a simple answer to this but it will be interesting to see the responsed you receive.

They are bad because of the effects they have on the user. That is why they are illegal. And yes crashes do occur and people die because the driver was under the influence of illegal drugs. Although there are less cases due to drug use than alcohol, many times the driver is under the influence of both.

Manufactured drugs are bad. Like meth, coke and heroin. Pot is a plant, and it's not that good, but it's not that bad either. It helps with headaches and stomach aches, but it's unfortunate that it gets a bad rep from pot heads who sit around and munch and play video games.

All of the above, including alcohol, can be potentially bad for anyone who doesn't have control of their addictions.

i have no objections to weed.. infact i rather my kids (late teens) get stoned that get drunk-like you said, stoners are very seldom violent, alcohol makes people nasty.
i dont like the effects of cocaine(or the price!)...the same as alcohol -can affect people in differrent ways. ive seen usually placid people turn into vicious thugs , because they are so hyped up as well as people that have been the life of the party purely because they are off their nut on coke...but the effect wears off and quickly....,,...ive also seen people on crashing lows. infact two friends committed suicide together a few years ago.....after years off dabbling with recreational drugs.
there have been media reports stating that smoking weed can lead to mental illness... i am not going to argue with medical facts... but i do think if you are mentally unstable stress or alcohol are as like;y to bring on an underlying mental illness.and theres alot more chance of stress and alcohol being a part of everyday life that cocaine/cannabis.

Any drug or drink or pill that destroys brain cell is bad. I would not change my tune if certain things suddenly became "legal". My ex-husband was a "stoner" sometimes who drank as well. Once, he loaded a rifle and pointed at my face less than three feet away from me. He also drank, got "stoned" and beat me. Drugs are not harmless and alcohol is not fun past two drinks. Drinking and drugs alter one's thought processes. It destroyed my marriage.

drugs are illegal because when people use them a lot because they get addicted to it they tend to do crazy things.but a lot of the drugs are used to help people to like in medications and stuff like that. Drugs are only good for medications and health issues, but the peole that use them and get addited to them they get overdosed and do crazy things and may even kill them.
