You may want to take an anti malaria drug. It needs to be taken a couple weeks before the trip and a week after you are back. Mefloquine is one of the drugs.

None are required and you may get lucky and not getr sick. If you do get sick you are going to be in a place that the nearest real medical help is Singapore or Japan. or Hong Kong. There is virtually no medical facilities in the Philippines.
Make sure you take the Hepatitus Series, Flu, Pneumonia and Tetenus Booster. Many Westerners contract Pneumonia due to the severe pollution here.
Make sure you bring Tyenol as it is not available here. Also a good multi vitamen, and and Immodium AD. Do not ever put water into your mouth that is not bottled. Never eat any fruit or vegetables that are not fully cooked. Even with all these precautions, most Westerners get some degree of food poisining . Do not eat any meat that you can not 100 % identify. Recently in Iliilo 3 people died and 23 more were in critical condition from eating rabid dog. ( Sun Star ) June 14, 2006

i been to the Philippines 3 times since March 2005 in Cebu and Mindanao and I took nothing at all and I feel fine. I was freaking out the first time b4 my first trip, but none are required.
To be safe, of course ask your doctor. That bird flu disease going around Asia is not a problem in the Philippines so don't have to worry bout that.
But, just to add, upon arrival in Los Angeles, US Customs ask you on a form have you been near agricultural products or livestock. just say "no" and you'll be OK.

Hepititus A and B and a tetnus booster. Flu shots are also recommended during rainy season here. I didn't bother with the Malaria pills as the side effects are pretty bad and I don't plan on going into the deep jungle.
Those were the recommendations by my family doctor so I followed his recomendations. I stayed healthy.

there are no required vaccinations to visit the philippines.
but for you to enjoy your stay and avoid getting sick, it is best to consult your doctor if you are up to date with your vaccinations and other recommended vaccines to visit a country like the philippines.
examples of recommended vaccination are hepatitis A & B, rabies, and typhoid, esp if you plan to go to rural areas. you're maybe at risk with diseases like malaria, dengue, and other food and waterborne bacteria that cause diarrhea. so, make sure your food and water are safe.
i know you'll enjoy your visit in the country.
have fun in the philippines.
