I've heard fox urine powder, human urine (most economical!) and moth balls... What's the best?

My references say fox urine would likely be most effective. The other suggestion is to clear out or seal off any sheltered, overgrown areas that may be attractive to them to burrow and set up housekeeping, particularly porches or open crawl spaces around your buildings. Of course you would want to also keep pet foods and attractive garbage or compost cleared out or inaccessible. Fencing is suggested in small areas you wish to control, if you bury your fence to prevent them from digging under it, or add a low electric fence wire. Moth balls work inside, but are ineffective out, for obvious reasons.

They seem to be tough to discourage. Good luck.

Be sure and keep all debris and building materials away from your house. Also, keep all fruit and dog food picked up on a daily basis. Skunks love to go looking for food sources late at night and then will seek out a nice cozy place to sleep until the next nights outing.

Moth balls won't help you. I know this to be true. As far as urine i believe it will make them spray more. Because they think their area is being taken over by another animal. One thing you MUST NOT USE is ammonia. I had to leave my house for 3 days.
