The Car were buying has been taken very good care of. It has new tires, new brakes, the interior and exterior is in great condition. The only thing we can tell thats wrong with it is that it needs an oil change. It has 120,000 Miles on it and the guy we are buying it from is letting us have it for a $1000 at $50 a month for payments. Are there anyone out there who knows a little something about cars. We would like to find out if this sounds like a good deal and if a pontiac grand prix is a good car to own.

if the body is in decent condition, then yeah, that's a fair price. he's charging you right around the Kelly Blue Book value, probably. My mother owned one that was around that year and she pretty much ran it into the ground before she sold it for around the same price. it didn't have too many problems, other than some power window issues. I would get a history on what has been done to the car as far as mechanical issues and get it inspected somewhere before you buy it to make sure it doesn't have any current issues that he's trying to pass off onto you.

That car is in great shape. Pontiacs are great cars that are reliable. Some of them come with Toyota engine. Although the Pontiac Grand Prix is a good car, it is among the least safe cars. I don't recomend buying it if you have children. My first car was a Chevrolet Caviler and I found out that it had a high crash test rating. The Pontiac Sunfire and other sedans about that size had the same rating. But I think that the Grand Prix is a little bigger than the Caviler and Sunfire. Before you buy the car, ask the man how the crash test rating was or research it on the internet. My family owned a Grand Prix in the ninties and it was so reliable and it lasted so long. It is eay to drive and is easy to handle when in the rain. I loved it. I hope you get the car that you want and I hope everything works out.

As long as the car runs you can't argue a price like that at those payments. If you're looking for reassurance, then go for it. Heck, I'd do it and I have 2 cars already.
