That is cause their lives are so boring and sad that they have to make it exciting by being ungry cause their very little brain cant cope with anything else!!!

I think it has to do with a survival of the fittest. Not really sure but why else would people get so bent out of shape over a stupid game. The best wins.

It's no different to people getting worked up about Baseball, Pop Idol or bloody Big Brother. I've actually seen arguements about which one of the latest freaks should be kicked out of a house in London - now that is sad.
But people care, is that wrong?

Because it isnt a game anymore. Its all totally out of hand now. All the players need a kick where the sun dont shine, and made to earn their money, and their egos clipped

I read somewhere that it is because we are not programmed to sit on our bums and watch televison or read. We are programmed to hunt, to win, to survive in the human race. Fight to feed the family. So playing games like football nuture that gene in us, the fighting, I'll kick your *** for my dinner kind of thing.

if people was as enthusiastic towards helping the homeless or fighting crime....etc as they are about supporting a bunch of overgrown boys playing a game of football...the world would be a better place.

If you mean in the FIFA world cup, it's kinda obvious. They want their team to win, and they know they'll have to practice a lot harder and everything for the next one. And they know that if they lose, they'll let their country down.
If you mean just like college soccer, then, when you're playing, you just like turn into "agressive mode" or something. =) You just kinda see the other team being your enemy.

It's one of the few things we have that brings us together as a nation. You don't see politics, shopping, drinking and all the other things that we do on a daily basis doing that!
