I'm a big Hornets fan, and this is really exciting. The Hornets took two big guys in the draft, which filled their number one need, but they still lacked a shooter. If Peja plays for the Hornets, they have a very good chance at reaching the playoffs and maybe going even further. With Chris Paul, Peja, and David West, you have three great scoring options, and then the size the Hornets got in the draft will help out on defense and rebounding. I don't think they need to sign a big man...I think that the acquisition of Peja could put the Hornets on another level.

As a Hornets fan, I love the signing. Now, the Hornets have three legitimate scoring threats. With Chris Paul's ability to penetrate and dish, Peja should have a multitude of open looks as Paul makes the defense collapse on him. Then, with the emergence of David West in the paint, teams will not be able to cheat off of West to double Peja or Paul.
The Hornets, like the Kings and Nets, run the Princeton offense, and since Peja played with the Kings, he will be going back to the type of offense that made him an all-star. Those centers you named, Mohammed, Przybilla, and Wright, do not pass or move well enough to operate in the Princeton offense. The Kings have Brad Miller who's a great passer. The Nets have Jason Collins who's an above average passer. Right now, the Hornets have an effective PJ Brown in that role. Hopefully, one of the rookies can develop into that type of player.
If Peja gels with the team quickly, they could again challenge for a playoff spot. As much of a fan as I am, I can't get overly exicited, b/c for the Hornets to get in, two teams may have to drop out. If McGrady stays healthy next season, the Rockets are pretty much guaranteed a playoff berth. If Boozer stays healthy, the Jazz will pose another obstacle. Those two teams didn't even make the playoffs this past season. The Hornets will have to hope that Denver, Memphis or the Lakers slip out of contention for playoff spots. Despite those odds, I still say GO HORNETS!!!

At Last a free & Rich man.
The New Orleans Hornets made the first splash of the NBA's free-agent signing period, agreeing to terms yesterday with three-time all-star Peja Stojakovic.
Stojakovic, who last week opted to become a free agent instead of continue playing for Indiana, will sign a five-year deal worth about $64 million US with the Hornets.
Stojakovic will sign as soon as the NBA's moratorium ends next week. NBA teams were allowed to begin negotiating with free agents today but cannot officially sign players until July 12.
"The Hornets are setting their cap room aside for Peja, and Peja is taking himself off the market," his agent David Bauman said

i think it was a brilliant move. signing peja will give them tremendous offensive power, it will definitely extend ther opponents defense beyond the perimeter allowing the paint to get unclogged. as for the big man, i dont thin that any of the names mentioned would hav the same impact as signing a stojakovic. i know they desperately need a big man but in a fan's point of view would you let go of the oppurtunity of signing a player of stojakovic's caliber for a nazr mohammed???
go sign peja! just sign a bunch of d-league centers!!!!!

They could do both. They'd have a above decent team then. Especially with Chris Paul running the show.
