Hi!I am a Malaysian(but not a malay) but i live in Singapore.
Weather there is extremely hot like Singapore. But the weather won't affect your vacation there.(My opinion only). It is a bit dirty there but you would enjoy your trip there.
Langkawi is probably the best place in Malaysia as you can see the sunrise and the sunset and the weather is cooler than Kuala Lumpur.Food over there is very delicious.Mmm...And there are lots of things to enjoy over there.
Kuala Lumpur has this tower call the Petronas Towers. It is actually a twin tower. It is one of the tourists attractions.
There is another place where you can't miss.It is the Genting Highlands. It is actually high up in the mountain.Weather there is totally different from Kuala lumpur.there are lots of games to play.many!well i can't really say out all the games because there are lots of games. If you are going there you would have a lot of fun!
May i ask you are you going by tour? And i really hope you would also visit Singapore.Singapore is also another nice place .Don't think Singapore is only an island but the facilities here are superb!
May i know where are you from? From Asia?Europe?Antarctica?Just kidding only!

Hi, I have been to Malaysia and still does it I guess you cannot compare Thailand and Malaysia, you will have to go with an open mind. Both are unique in their own ways.
Malaysia will be a breeze because English is spoken widely. In KL and Langkawi, you will have no problem moving around, getting where you want to go and getting food. KL is pretty modern with quite a number of shops, bars and clubs. Shopping there is pretty unique, you get lots of shops in megamalls. Food joints easily available along the major roads and corners too.
Around the city, there are parks, theme parks and buildings, plenty of them to visit. So you have your choices.
In Langkawi it is an island resort. It is very much self-contained, so you get everything while on the island. Good for a relaxing time. So go and enjoy.

I went to Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur last year. Langkawi is so beautiful and soooo quiet. Kuala Lumpur is the opposite, but a great experience all the same. Make sure you go to the chinese night market in Kuala Lumpur as you can pick up some really good bargains!! Oh and i found a shop called the foo king coffin shop which i found quite amusing...

I'm Malaysian. For me dont expert to get the same thing that you got at Thailand. For me, we still develop our tourism and so far people just hate the toilet & traffic at Malaysia. The people, although we all at 3rd ranks as the rudest cities, but dun worry... we're friendly! We r not rudest! Hahaha...

I have spent significant amount of time in Malaysia when i lived in Singapore. In both Thailand and Malaysia there are places that are very well developed for tourists and than there are many places that you should not go without a local person. Malaysian hospitality is not as good as Thai hospitality. In both places you can find nice food, however Malaysian food has more Curry type and oil based food (Indian influence). I would say people are very nice in both the countries. You need to be more careful in Malaysia compared to Thailand.
I hope this will help you understand which one you will like the most!

I have never personally been to Malaysia. I have a friend that does professional underwater photos and he loves it there. He said as long as you stay in the resort/hotel area that you are staying in you should be fine. He also said that people should stay paired up for safety reasons.
