Sounds like they aren't intolerant of the type of music, they just don't want the volume. Think of it this way...would you want to listen to someone practicing bagpipe music at full volume while you are trying to do something else? No? Well, that's how your parents feel.

It sounds like its what you WANT rather than what you NEED that is the problem. I don't think you NEED to play at full volume to practice ALL THE TIME.

Here's some options.
1. Wear headphones - then you can hear the music, and no one else is bothered by the music.
2. Practice in the garage (although then you're bugging your neighbors).
3. Put up "egg crate" foam material on the walls, which will absorb some of the sound.
4. Practice when your parents aren't home.
5. Practice someplace remote. (A friend of mine practiced bagpipes in an abandoned rock quarry.)
6. Move out and get your own place and you can do whatever you want.

Are there any music stores near you? If so they usually have spare rooms. Do you have a friend or band member who's the drummer, because you always end up practicing at their house and their parents just know that's part of the deal that there is always going to be a lot of noise at the house! Or Can you practice when your parents aren't there? Do they want you to play? Because realistically, if they are OK with you playing they have to get the fact that you need to jam when the mood strikes. Maybe have a sit down with them and let them know how much it means to you.

Imagine if your parents played Bing Crosby or Frank Sinatra at full volume for hours at a time. Pretty awful huh? Buy some headphones dude!

That's what is tough about living under someone else's roof. Would it be possible to sound proof your room? Are you old enough to work- and if so, see if your parents would be willing to soundproof a room in your basement- if you will pay for it in full. If not, then you are just going to have to wait until you get out on your own. That's life kid!

You can't unless you get a sound- proof door. I suggest you talk to your parents and gave them accept the music you like to play. If they don't, start a band and play at other peeps house.

u can play when nobody's at home. my bro plays the drums and i play bass guitar we like to lay loud so we wait till every ones gone and play. u can also buy the muffler pads that u can put on the edges of ur door to muffle the sound a little. try going to music stored like sam ash. they might have them.

i play guitar too and when my parents say its to loud i go to the basement. if you have a basement you can close the doors and play loud and they could barley hear you. they could hear you a little bit, at least is better than nothing. :)

you could try plugging your headphones in or going to a friends house and practicing.

You could buy headphones and attatche them to your amp.

Or you could buy alot of fun noodles and glue them to your walls to act as sound absorbers.

Or you can buy eggcarton matress liners to glue to the walls to act as sound absorbers.
