Some women do experience bleeding during pregnancy, but technically it is not a menstrual period. However, this bleeding can seem to coincide with a woman's normal cycle, so it can be confusing.
A very light or short "period" or spotting is one of several common early symptoms of pregnancy.
Bleeding during pregnancy can also indicate that you are miscarrying. Please consult a doctor or midwife if you believe you could be in danger of miscarriage (and be sure to eat well and get plenty of rest).

Don't know for sure, but I've read that you can have a kind of break through bleeding that some women might confuse as a light period even though they are pregnant. Speak with your doctor.
