When you were in middle school you couldn't really sign a contract or anything and you did the right thing returning the bills with "cancel" on them.
I believe you're in the clear on this one.
Whew! I'm relieved--how about you?

So you think nothing serious has happend.
Many magazine companies turn uncollected amounts over to collection agencies. You might have been in middle school when you began the subscriptions, but unpaid bills affect your credit rating and score. These blemishes can stay on your credit report for upwards to 7 to ten years.
I say get a copy of your credit report. You can get a free copy of it annually. Go to: www.freecreditreport.com. Based on what area of the country you live in, you can receive a free online report.
Some magazines allow you to cancel after a certain period or before you received a certain amount of magazines. If the company kept sending you bills, chances are you missed the cancellation period.
The best thing to do is arm yourself. Know what's on your credit report.

The collection agencies will have your name as provided by the subscription companies. Even parking tickets are placed into "the realm of collection" and one is subjected to the embarrassment of it all. If you have cancelled a subscription, send the copies of all of the information by "certified letter." Call your local library and have them give you the name and address of the Chairman of the Board and President of the company that runs whichever subscription service or company sells the magazine of concern. Last, but not least, make several copies for your personal records. This way you have legitimate proof that you contacted them. Since it has been 8 years ago, I would order my credit reports first BEFORE I got into further hot water. If after you do all of this, you may find that you have no problems. It would all be in vain if you dredged up old information that has died a "natural death." You realize that after 7 years, the law cancels all debts owed by people. There are exceptions to this, but it won't affect you. If the subscription companies continue to dun you, you can send this same information to the credit bureaus. This will stop them in their tracks from bugging you. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

They won't screw with you at all. Just recently a company started sending me a magazine and felt it necessary to enroll me in the Handyman Club of America. I had nothing to do with this but the bills started coming. Towards the end they tried to tell me that if I didn't pay my membership (that I never signed up for) would be cancelled. I just kept right on putting the bills in the trash. Guess what? They stopped bothering me.

I used to do the same thing but way past middle school! I'd get the 'free' copies than when the bill came first few I'd throw away but eventually I'd write, "Please cancel I never ordered this" and they did! But the same mag in a month or 2 would let me subscribe again. I never been threatened with a lawsuit, for magazines anyway!

Depending on the magazine, they will stop sending you the magazine. Some companies will continue to bill you and it will add up. Eventually, though, they'll stop when they realize you aren't going to pay.
Just remember, it could come back to "bite you in the ***" as far as your credit rating!!!!!

I thought that they stop but the bill will go into collection. But sometime they will forgive the debt. I know I did that when I was a teen.
