There has to be 11 men on the field at start of play mate
1 goalkeeper each side,
As for your Defenders, Midfielders and Attackers, the way the team lines up is entirely up to the coach
Most teams play

although this is not set in stone for instance some teams could play the following formations, Remember everyone has a goalkeeper.
D...5
M...3

And all other variations on 10 outfield players, althugh the ones above are the most commonly used,
You'll usually find that if a team is winning with minutes to go they will more or less play with 8 players in and around the box with 1 player up front hoping to hold the ball up if the defending clear it from their penalty area.
So there is NO set rules about how many outfield players play in certain positions

there must be 11 players on the field. The numbers of defenders or midfielders or strikers depends on the strategy of the team. if they need to be aggressive they'll use more strikers. If the team wants to defend then they'll use more defenders. If the opponent has a very strong midfield, the team could use more midfielders. The standard formation is 4-4-2 (4 defenders, 4 midfielders, 2 strikers). This obviously excludes the goalkeeper. You don't need a goalkeeper but its highly recommended.

While there are 11 players on the field there is only 1 striker. There are several different formations a team can you to set up. But generally there are 3 forwards inclusive of the striker, 3 midfield, 3 defenders, a stopper who protects the goalie and then finally the goalie.

there must always be 11 players, but it is up to the teams manager and his choice of squad to decide how many defenders, midfielders and strikers to play. For example, England usually play 4-4-2 (when they don't we get knocked out by bloody Portugal!) but some teams play 4-5-1, this starts from the back and works the way up like 4 defenders, 5 midfielders and one striker. Always one goalkeeper obviously

1 goalkeeper and 10 outfielders. but they can have any designation. You could have 10 full backs, or even 10 strikers. it is solely up the the manager. Thre are no differences between national club competitions and internationals.
