Thay annoy the hell out of me.But worst are the dim witted suporters of this inbred bunch of parasites. Its like the cult of celebrity, it seems lots of people need to look up at these people. The sad bustards, why dont they get a life.
Finally I would love Charlie the ******** to take a leaf bout of the young Nepali prince who recently massacared most of his family with a machine gun in a drug endused frenzy. Just to see the looks on the faces of the Sun reading morons as they read all about it in there daily rags, oh what a joy that would be!

No they leave me in peace.
Your figure is way off. 3 1/2 pence in the pound amounts to billions not millions. The figures given by the government (which are the only ones available) only give the figure as per person for the year. I cannot remember what the Queens figure is but it is in a few pounds per person per year. Prince Charles figure published this week is 63 pence per year!
The royal family get money from the civil list. That is the cost you are talking about. However the majority of the land and assets is held by the government under the Crown Estates and the profits go to the country. This is significantly greater than the money paid to the royal family in the civil list. It is also calculated that the royal family attract so many tourists that the money they bring into the country is far in excess of the civil list.
If you want the country to get richer why not campaign instead to get all those workshy idle people who live on benefits and refuse to work, thrown out of the system? Then we really would be talking billions of pounds of savings.

Yes, some of them do, but getting rid of them is certainly not the answer. HM the Queen has dedicated her life to the service of the UK and the Commonwealth. You don't hear stories of her partying rather hardy, not even 'back in the day'. She has a really good attitude towards her duties. She is the last stand against tyranny as she has the power to veto laws passed by government, and she can call a General Election. The whole Monarchy thing, complete with Beefeaters and Buck Palace, is a real tourist attraction. You can't deny it -- all those Japanese and American tourists wandering around London with their eyes glazed over.
The Prince of Wales, passionate as he may be of his personal interests, is not a good candidate for King. The whole Princess Diana thing notwithstanding, he is essentially a twit... I'll probably regret that last remark if, by some extraordinary, impossible fluke, I become his daughter-or-anything-else-in-law (never say never). He cheated on the Princess of Wales with something resembling our canine friends; he, allegedly (a good journalist always uses that word), had a gay affair (or was it rape?) with one of his valets... He has bad fashion sense and has caused a potential constitutional crisis with his marriage to a Catholic (Act of Separation ring a bell?).
William, should he become King, will be the first Monarch, since Queen Anne, to be descended from Charles II (Princess Di is descended from the Dukes of Richmond and Grafton; two illegitimate sons of Charles II). Quite frankly, especially if he marries that all-singing, all-dancing, hockey playing lah-di-dah from the Home Counties, he will need to prove himself. He seems a nice fella, but does he have the strength of mind and wisdom to rule? His current girlfriend might not be able to cope with all the exposure and publicity of being Queen Consort. I mean, come on, they hide her now. If I was the Queen or even not-so Bonny Prince Charlie, I would expose her to as much publicity as possible in order to test her. Mind you, there are stories about that girl, including her mother pushing to go to St Andrew's so that she would meet Wills.... cheeky or what? I hope, if this is true, he sees through her falseness. If he doesn't, then, no, Vive la Republique!
I think HM the Queen should trim the Civil list - it should be just her and maybe ol' Phil on it. Charles and the Rottweiler should not be on it -- he has money from his land in Cornwall. The other Royals should go out and get jobs instead of living off our money.
Even compared to the current Civil list, a President would cost a truck load more. For the time being, I am supportive of the Monarchy, but they could do with cutting down their spending and using scheduled modes of transportation. All in all, they do a good job in representing the United Kingdom, especially with their charity work which is now more prominent after the Princess of Wales' death (it's no good thing believe me... we all loved her).

Yes get rid of them they are so out of touch with the real world, they have no idea how people really live, or survive and most of them have never done a real days work in there life, they always get the easy option with things, and are treated like Gods by some, and what's worse they expect it.

Some of them annoy me.
We should only have to pay them for attending state occasions & only pay for their security for those times also.
They each have personal fortunes which they should have to use for personal expenses, staff, homes & protection etc.
I think there are too many of them on the civil list.
We allow them to live a life of luxury in homes we pay to maintain.
I think a month of trying to live on an average wage, living on a council estate, no servants, shopping at Tesco, driving a clapped out Corsa is something every person on the civil list should have to do so that they know how normal, average people live.
We should be able to ask them to do this because after all, they work for us - we pay their wages.

"Have you been here long" "What does that bit do" "What a lovely building (lavatory, cess-pit, tunnel, council flat, supermarket or whatever)" and they get 150 million a year for that???? They have jewellery worth BILLIONS, about 25 palaces that they never even see, yet fresh flowers are put there every day.(guess who pays for all the upkeep)...etc., etc., Hello.Mr. DSS, Im a pensioner and I havent had a new coat for 35 years, can you help me- I'm 93 and its snowing"......... "Piss off, pensioners are scroungers, we cant afford it!"...........

taxes are way higher in Holland but the royals aren't even having a party, but I understand your position; it is a useless bunch of money eating aristocrats. Here that's already turned into topmanagement, you're just behind on developments, that's all, soon it will be as bad as it is here. Someone needs to spend taxpayers' money on stupidities, the US have Bush and his warfare.....

I hate them too they think they're so great and look down on us commoners when all they've done is be born and they don't even make any important decisions anymore. But on the other hand they do bring tourism and do a lot for charity.

oh yes i have put this kind of question here so many times but some brits, royals fanatis say it brings tourism, and thus more money, but i dont think so, we are telling ourselves we are not better than the, and pay them to look even better. and rule us. i hate them, all leadership positions should be voted for/in. not by some royal birth.
