Almost 140 moons are known in our Solar System. EARTH has one moon and Mars has two. Jupiter has the most of any planet. Saturn is second. Only Mercury and Venus do not have any moons.

A moon is a natural satellite rotating around a planet. While moons vary in size, each moon is much smaller than its planet. Several moons are larger than the planet Pluto and two moons are larger than the planet Mercury.

From the SUN,
Mercury -- 0
Venus -- 0
Earth -- 1 moon
Mars -- 2 moons
Jupiter -- 62 mooons
Saturn -- 33 moons
Uranus -- 27 moons
Neptune -- 13 moons
Pluto -- 1 moon

There used to be a story about another moon hiding behind our Moon, but when we finally got around to the other side of our Moon back in the 60's, it wasn't there. However, you'll be interested to know that mathematically speaking, our Moon shouldn't be where it is at, and almost can't be considered a moon at all. People on another planet looking at us through telescopes would probably consider the Earth and our Moon to be a double-planet, just like some stars are double-stars.

There are no moons in earths solar system because earth is part of the soloar system. Several of the planets have moons as does earth, but none of them have a solar system.
