Everyone else is right. Windows 98 does not have system restore. That feature was introduced with Windows 2000 though it was available on ME (ME just never worked right) and of course, it is a feature of Windows XP. The problem is, I don't even know if Windows 98 even has the ability to do a low level format of a drive when you install it. My guess is, it does not since Windows ME did not have that ability. So, you'll have to take the drive and plug it into another computer, format it and then reinstall Windows 98. If you attempt to "reinstall" Windows 98 I think you will be treated to little more than a glorified repair (which does no good). It's imperative to reformat your drive if you wish your computer to function as it did when it came out of the box. However, I'd consider getting a new computer at this point (since you are STILL running Windows 98).

System restore is a feature of Windows XP, I believe, and your win98 doesn't even have that option. You might need to reinstall windows to bring everything back. Good luck!
