File an affidavit to have your name taken off. You may have to prove this with DNA testing.

I would pay the money to get a DNA test through a state recognized DNA testing facility and take the results to a lawyer and find out what you need to do to remove your name. I know it sounds like a lot of money to spend, but you may spend more in the long run. If you signed an affidavit stating you are the father before you signed the birth certificate, your going to need that DNA test results to prove your not the father to the state. Good Luck.

You are financially responsible for that baby until you get your name off the birth certificate... In court, it's all about what's on paper, what is a legal document, what's been signed, and by who! Since a home DNA test may not be admissable,( since the results were not read by a doctor) you'll want to call a lawyer for free consultation. It should be as easy as going with the Mother to a judge and explaining the deal, but all states are different---call a lawyer for free advice my friend.

Call or go to your local Adult/Family services as soon as you possibly can and tell them your situation. I've heard of cases like this where the thought to be father found out much later he was indeed not the father and STILL had to pay child support because he'd been the acting and supporting father up until then. So yes, don't waste any time taking your name off any legal documents, unless you'd rather support this baby for the next 18 yrs.

Petition the court to have your name removed from the birth certificate, and bring the DNA test as proof. If you leave your name on there, she can demand child support. If you want to stay in the baby's life, do nothing. But it sure would be sad if she was just using you as a poor sucker to raise her kid while she slept around and treated you badly.

A home DNA test? Oh goodness go to a doctor and actually find out! Its like a pregnancy test, even if it says you are pregnant you may not be, you still have to go to the doctor to confirm. In which case if you really aren't contact a lawyer.

Talk to a lawyer. Get a doctor to do a real DNA test. You don't know if there are flaws in a home DNA test.

Second talk to your wife/girlfriend. Get the story about what happened, and who was she fooling around with.

Ask yourself if you can live with the fact that your wife/girlfriend messed around, and if you can take care of some other guy's baby.

Talk to your close friends and closest relatives about it. See what they tell you to do. Get counseling if necessary.

Each state is different. You need to hire a lawyer and petition the state to establish paternity. Becareful, if you do nothing for a certain lenght of time, some states make you the father regardless of DNA.

basically, call a lawyer
