Explanation and background:
This is an extreme measure and open to suggestions. A lot of people think that individuals with AIDS are responsible enough to not have unprotected sex. I've even read forums of people who are mad that they have AIDS, and wish to spread it to everyone they can. I’ve even heard a story from a family member who worked in an AIDS clinic. A patient told him that he had a one-night stand with a woman who didn’t have a hotel room after a delayed plane. They went partying late into the night, and then came back to the hotel room and had sex. The next day, the man woke up, and the girl was gone. While he was peeing, he looked into the mirror and saw, written in lipstick, “Welcome to the wonderful world of AIDS”...pretty scary story!

Possible Solution:
If you don't have AIDS you are required to get a yearly AIDS check. If you have AIDS you are required to get a non-visible (with clothes on) tattoo on your lower stomach to warn your partner. The tattoo is *required*.

What I meant was:
If you have AIDS you are required to get a tattoo (non-visible with clothes on) on your lower stoamch to warn your partner.

That could be a solution, but I am sure people would take offence to being "branded" like that.

I totally get your point but we all have to take responsibility for our lives. I like the idea about everyone getting tested yearly, I have all my bfs get tested for STDs before I do anything with them. But not everyone would waits before they are intimate with someone.

Another solution could be an ID card that people get renewed yearly with their picture on it saying that they do not have AIDS. Then if your partner didn't have that card you just wouldn't be intimate with them. But again, I can see all the flaws with that idea too.

So to answer your question, I don't think there is a solution. But by asking questions like this I'm sure some one will come up with a solution.

Your thoughts have merit but there are flaws. AIDS is not an American Only disease and travelers from other areas are as risky as Americans, perhaps more so. ACLU would probably attack the mandatory health check as invasion of privacy however as a foreigner living in China it is mandatory, but not so for transients so AIDS keeps increasing here. I do support your thought that people testing positive should be tattooed but again ACLU would knock it to bits. Could we neuter a known sex-offender? If, and doubtfully so, such a law was allowed, it then opens the door to greater government 'Big Brother' measures.

There are 2 way of dealing with the situation.
Either the people that have AIDS will need to be responsible or the people that DO NOT have AIDS will need to be responsible. The people that have AIDS don't care..they already have AIDS so it's up to us to be careful and protect yourself. You have to assume that every partner you sleep with has SOMETHING if you don't have that attitude then you'll let your guard down and expose yourself to ANYTHING not just AIDS.
There is no need to violate the rights of people that have AIDS because people that don't have AIDS need to prevent the spread by being responsible.

AIDS will always be here if people don't take responsibility for there own body's
always protect your self's there are some bad people out in this world who would just pass it on because they got it
if you get to drunk to put a Durex on DON'T do sex
what is the point 5 mins of fun a life with AIDS ? YOU HAVE TO TAKE THAT DISSESION
if you are old enough to have sex you are old enough to take care of your body
respect
shaz

That's not going to stop the spread of AIDS. What will stop the spread of Aids is if we the citizens of this country win the on going war with the Government of this country and make them release the cure that they already have. They've sold the cure to other countries but continue to say...that they're still working on it. That will stop the spreading of AIDS.

It will never happen. If people don't want to get aids first don't sleep around especially with strangers, second always use protection. This would help.

I like the ID card that says that you are aids free. Another idea I like is abstenence before marriage.
