Every year I host a party and 2 of my neighbors don't get along. I have invited both to my party but both say they are not coming because so and so will be there. These people are supposed to be my friends and I am really upset they cannot put the past behind them for one evening. What can I do to make my friends understand they are hurting me too?

You did the right thing! This problem is between them not you and they should be mature enough to work it out between them for YOUR sake. They're being selfish....tell them I said so! You're truly a good friend and you don't have to take sides. If they don't come, so what? Never invite them to your house again.
