if the air that the fan moves past our body is lower in heat and humidity than your body is they will cool you down if the air is not the fan will not help. There are plans on the Internet for making a low cost air conditioner by running cool water behind the blades of a fan in order to make the air cooler.

Electric fans are just that...fans.They do not cool you, as they have no cooling element.An air conditioner, on the other hand, has a coolant that is released into the air behind the fan and then projected into the room,thus making the room cooler.

All they do is push the current air around, it gives a small wind chill, but is not actually cooling anything, the only way to really cool down is Air conditioning, or try running cold water over your wrists ( cools the blood) or put your bed sheet in plastic bags in the frezzer before you go to bed take them out.

They cool you when directly on you. But they just move the air around, not cool it or lower the heat level like AC. In Italy, the houses have walls that are as thick as your arm is long, and they stay cool because the heat doesn't penetrate the walls like our cheap houses here.

All that is going on is the moisture on your skin reacting to the air movement,not a cooling down.Also the heat from the fan motor heats the room area.

well look at this this way they create more heat by useing another electric appliance in the room but then they create a windchill.
its like going outside when there is no breeze
get to currys and get a air conditioner, its the best thing i ever brought!

because they just give the wind around you a boost,, so hot air around u is given to u that's all, but the air conditionar gives u cold breeze not hot

Spray water on your face and sit in front of it. The evaporating water will pull the heat away. That is why we perspire.
