first, go to RUN, and type the following (if you use Win XP) : "services.msc" then press enter. You should see a list of installed services. Now you will disable some of them. Be careful, as many of them are crucial for the operating system. Here are those that can be disabled with no problem: Alerter, Application layer gateway, ClipBook, COM+ Event System, COM+ System Application, DHCP client, Distributed link tracking client, Distributed transaction coordinator, Error reporting service, HTTP SSL, Human interface device access, indexing service, IPSEC services, messenger, MS software shadow copy provider, performance logs and alerts, Portable media serial number, protected storage, RPC locator, remote registry, routing and remote access, smart card, SSDP discovery service, task scheduler, TCP/IP netbios helper, telephony (unless you use a modem to connect to internet), telnet, Uninterruptible power supply, Universal plug&play device host, volume shadow copy, Web client, Windows imaga aquisition, Windows time, Wireless zero configuration, WMI performance adapter.
You disable them by double clicking and selecting from that scroll-list.
What you just did was you turned off some features that in 99,99 % of cases you do not need, such as wireless networking, remote registry control etc. By doing this you gain a lot of extra free memory.
Next, run "regedit.exe" and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
CurrentControlSet\Control\
Session Manager\Memory Management\
PrefetchParameters
and there find a key named ENABLE PREFETCHER and modify it to 0 (it should have 3 as a value). That decreases boot time a lot.
Well, mainly that's it, give me a BUZZ on "SINEKT" Yahoo ID if you need help...

Buy more RAM, you need to see what kind of chip your computer uses first. Most computers at that processor speed are upgradeable to almost 2 gigs ram. You can also overclock the processor, but that would burn it out QUICK.

You can replace the processor and increase the RAM in your machine.
You can also reduce the number of applications/programs running on startup or in the background. These use up RAM which is often unneccessary.
You can also regularly perform disk fragmenter and disk cleanup.

If you need help installing ram, then just contact me through my profile.
You will need to get memory because 224MB is not enough these days. You should try and get at least 512.
Go to http://www.4allmemory.com and buy rams there cuz its the cheapest place to buy rams. I cant think of anywhere cheaper. You can also try ebay if you think you can get it cheaper there.
Then just open your motherboard and you can easily install it.
