Have you ever touched your eyeball with your clean finger?
If you have and it didn't bother you, then you'll be able to insert and wear contact lenses.
If you tried and cannot do it, then don't try. You'll have to be able to both insert them and remove them daily.
If you don't know because you haven't tried, then try it. Make sure your fingers are clean, and that you have no jagged nails. Try both with a mirror and without.
A number of years back, I had the choice of glasses or contact. That particular time, I chose contacts. It worked fine for me. I had no problem insterting or extracting them. The other big thing with contact lenses is CARE. You have to relaly maintain them well, in order to avoid eye infections. If you can do all the above, you'll likely be a good candidate for contact lenses.

I wore hard lenses for years - took a while to get used to them - LOVED them!! Never tried soft lenses (and now I CAN'T).
Then stupid me got LASIK. Not only did it take away my near vision (which I was willing to sacrifice), but my eyes are so dry I should buy stock in "Theratears" (they contain no preservatives - which of course I'm allergic to preservatives).
So, if it's a choice, go with the contacts - don't let anyone talk you into surgery - you wouldn't believe the promises made to me! Good luck - this is only my opinion and mine alone. :)

I've tried them. For two weeks I didn't have any problems at all. But for some reason afterwards, I couldn't get them in. I finally gave up on them.
My sister and brother in law both use them, and love them. He uses only hard lenses, which require a lot of upkeep. My sister uses the soft ones that you can sleep in and loves them.
My mom uses the bifocal ones, thoses were the hardest ones to get use to according to her. One eye one prescription and the other eye the other prescription. She now loves hers.
As long as you keep them clean and are able to get them in and out properly, you shouldn't experience any pain. If there is pain, you need to see your eye doctor at once, and NOT wear them

I have worn contacts for nearly 30 years. If you need them they can be beneficial. Soft lenses are the most comfortable. But wear what your Doctor recommends! Then follow the advice about cleaning and caring for your lenses.

I wear contact lenses and as long as you get the soft ones it doesn't hurt at all. If your one of the people who can't stand putting a finger in their eyes, contacts aren't for you but they really don't hurt.

Not at all! You may have a bit of trouble inserting the lenses for the first few times, but it is only because of nerves. Once you are used to it, it will be as natural as putting on your glasses. GL

Soft lens do not hurt. They are little uncomfortable at first. You have to get used to them. It takes a little while. But they are worth it. Just make sure you buy some eyedrops for contacts, because your eyes may dry out some at first.

Nah, it doesn't really hurt. It took me a lot of practice to learn how to get them in, though. The trick is to keep both eyes open when putting it in.
