Another way to look at feelings not being facts is to think about the time you were walking down the street at night with someone approaching you. Your body starts to become defensive and fear sets it. What are they going to do to me? What should I do? The person approaches and only asks for directions to the movie theater.

Feelings are not facts means that feeling worthless does not mean that you are worthless. Anger does not mean the other person has done wrong.

Burns makes us question the truth and authority of our emotions. Emotions fool us into thinking they are ‘right’, and bad feelings about ourselves or our abilities seem unchallengeable. Emotions are almost the last thing we should trust, because ‘feelings are not facts’.

Emotions, or feelings, often have nothing to do with reality. Many people feel offended when they shouldn't and get all worked up with it, people can take things personally when they shouldn't, some people feel worthless when in fact no one is worthless- feelings are not facts. They can either agree or disagree with facts, but they are not facts.

feelings are based on perceptions and learned experiences. if you grow up in a home where there was a lot of anger expressed & you hear a door slam, your feeling may be fear or anxiety, thinking someone is slamming the door in anger. but maybe the wind blew the door shut. maybe someone doesnt know her own strength & pulled the door too hard. feelings are real, but that doesnt mean they are facts. its important to try to slow your mind down & check the facts before you decide if what you are feeling is appropriate to the situation. you can change the way you feel. but our initial feeling, reaction to an event, is not necessarily appropriate to what is actually going on.

feelings change easily; facts do not. Take the time to understand how you are feeling and do the best to change this if it is contributing to your drinking. You can always change something to a more positive thing to help you. One day at a time, sweetheart. Even one minute at a time, when necessary.

Feelings are in fact "facts" You brain is telling you something.Always trust your "feelings" about someone or something. Hope AA does better for you than me. Just made me want to drink more. I needed more.I had to have my friends and family to get me through. May your higher power "rule"!!!
