As much as I admire DB for in his younger days he WAS a good player. He is now past it...... and was obviously choosen for his 'Celebrity Status' and no if he could play. Although I have to say he is one of the few (if only) captain that walked round the stadiums after matches to clap and thank the fans.

Yes, he did everything a Captain should do. Is he the best player? No. He once was awe inspiring but there are younger, better players now. When Aaron Lennon came on yesteday instead of Becks he kicked @ss.
Becks has realised this and done what a good captain should do - Stand down.

He is a nice guy but not hard enough to get the team discipline to play harder and to their potential. Let's face it, England's got the skill, but it's the fire inside that is always missing from surfacing above. It's a shame b'coz they could have taken it all the way this time. Glad Sven is going, he was a complete waste. On Friday, actor Ray Winstone was flown to Germany to give a motivational speech to the England squad - surely, that was Sven's job???

Yes. Of course. Although im a Malaysian i can see how well he play. He can manage the team members very well. So he is good captain. I know why you asking this question. You are angry with him because he was injured yesterday. Be cool winning or loosing is nothing but the important is the team spirit.

No he is a useless captain. He is not a leader and it showed. I can not think of a time when he in-spiared the rest of the team or spoke to them in a way a captain should. All I can say is look how martin Johnson stile and look at Beckhems no contest.

Yes , he is still the best captain and player as well ..

Nope he's hopeless. Should be sacked!!! All he ever did was kick a ball in a bend. Doesn't tackle at all. My seven year old nephew could do better.
