Or are they rip-offs, leaving you with bad teeth, no one to repir it since they are far away, not legally impressed by your complaint, and your dentist back home won't help you because you've been to someone else?
Or do they have to provide excellent service, they depend on mouth to mouth advertising.

It would depend on how extensive the work that needed to be done and where you would intend on going to have the work done overseas.

It is a growing trend for those needing extensive work that insurance will not cover to combine having their work done along with a vacation; however, you would need check out the standards of practice for the country you are going to and the accrediations and recommendations of the dentist that you do choose to have the work done.

The major downside is that if something did go wrong, it would probably be too costly to pursue any litigation, even if you would have a valid claim and did find a lawyer to represent you (would have to be an international company and pay a lawyer in your country and also a lawyer in the country where the dental work was completed).

It is a variable between dentist. It can vary country to country ...state to state etc. Even when dentist that come from the same dental school would be compared...they are different. The best thing you could do would be to ask around in the area and find out the dentist that people are most satisfied with and also check credentials and the school of dentistry credentials. If you go abroad ...get insurance.
