I am an artist, and being part of a network is beneficial if that's what you want. Right now I am working on a project that if it gets accepted will make me part of a worldwide network. So, I would have to say Yes.

That would be turned around on how the Network will benefit from me. I am a rich old fart riding a Harley and visitng the States, doing charity work and helping children at Christmas that need presents and such. Naw, I would say I give more than I take. Network would benefit from and I need nothing from them.

Off course it depends entirely on the artist and the network.

Support, inspiration, and promotion are three of the main reasons for trying to formally or informally network with other artists.

As an artist how I would hope to benefit from a network would be,

Support copyrighting and protecting my intellectual property.
Support distributing my intellectual property.
Support getting notoriety for my unique style.
Support for emotional ups and downs through friendship of other artists.
A peer group I can respect that can teach me new techniques while appreciating my capabilities.

bottled feelings
sometimes i run, sometimes i hide
paper heart that tears easily

clipped wings of fantasy
fairy godmother is on holiday
pumpkin dust fading into zilch
can paper aeroplanes sodden with tears fly?

mood swings
fly high high into the sky
the next minute
down in the dumps

running away
a lone figure in the dead of the night
at the crossoads of life
tattered map

shadows of the past
haunts. prowls. stalks.
scarred for life
will i ever smile again

Networking can help you find about shows and sponsors. If you are a writer, you can trade ideas and use each others background research.
