just finished watching Black Forum on t.v. How can African Americans yell racism when their racist themselves?

Question

I believe that all americans should be treated equally regardless of the color of their skin but,African Americans yell Rascism but they have their own black talk shows. black magazines, black beauty pagents etc. They have the NAAcp. But as soon as a white person has A totally white t,v, show, a white magazine etc they yell rascist. White people dont have all white anything. Now I am forums ( t.v. magazines. colleges community) that actually promote black in their name. Like the show i just watched it is called Americas Black Forum. White people dont have a show called Americas White Forum on t.v. and if we did it would totall outrage black society. This isnt equal treatment for all americans. I think Martin luther King would roll over in his grave. He was about equality for all races not just black. What about the ***** college fund. Can white people have & promote a White college fund? Why cant we have one set of rules for all americans. Please I want some intelligent answers.

Every race has its racists. It is a way to draw attention to their cause and is more now an excuse to why they are not getting preferential treatment. This is a crutch that is long overdue to be cast aside. I say this because if everyone would open their eyes and be honest they will see that the majority of white community has tried to put the past behind them. Let them try to apply for a job as a white male and see what happens. They will find that they rate a "0" on the applicants list. A black woman rates a "2", a white female and minority male rates a "1" and a white male is a "0". Maybe someday all men and women will be judged by what is in their hearts and not the color of their skin. Blacks should be more worried about illegal immigrants coming to this country and taking benefits and subsidies away from them. They work and pay no taxes, get free medical care, subsidized housing (if not free), and receive food stamps.

Do you believe it's possible for someone to recognize racism in others and yet be racist themselves? Isn't it possible that many people can experience racism and that makes them racist against the people they feel victimized them?

There are many all-white organizations: there is a White Seperatist Movement, a White Supremacist Movement, the KKK... would you argue that they are not racist? The KKK, in fact, has several TV shows on local cable networks.

Even less extreme, there are still all-white country clubs and all-white communities and neighborhoods. the first are private clubs and can accept who they please for membership, the second don't want property values to go down and refuse anyone they fear will do that.

"Equal treatment for all Americans" is a legal concept for how the law is supposed to be applied equally, not for what private organizations can do. If something is privately funded, it can project any message it likes. The same with college scholarships -- but have you tried to get one from the UNCF?

The UNCF accepst applications from and has awarded scholarships to STUDENTS OF ALL RACIAL BACKGROUNDS. It was founded in 1944 as a way of being able to help black students go to college -- to be able to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, as it were, with a little help. The social situation is muc different than it was, but some people still need help -- almost everyone does these days.

Incidentally, I am considered a "person of color" because I am Native American. In my cultural experience, white people tend to steal, especially real estate -- does that make me racist? Isn't it possible that everyone is, at least to some extent?

Well doc, it's like this; a few decades ago, blacks had to deal with the Jim Crow laws (1880's - 1960's) that basically made it legal to separate blacks from whites and white activities. This is why you have all of the things that you have mentioned in your question. If blacks wanted something, they had to create it for themselves. So, you have black colleges, black scholarships, etc. This in no way took away from anything that had been available to whites. It just gave blacks opportunities that had been denied them.

Case in point: When it comes to race, there are many things that a typical magazine does not cover. Let's look at glamour and fashion magazines for instance. A magazine such as Glamour, did not advertise products that I could use on my hair, as caring for a black persons hair is usually drastically different than caring for the hair of another race. So, as the races have cultural and physical difference, things are geared specifically to those needs as there was not much previously available. Again, none of this took away from what was available for whites.

I see what you are saying about thinking that it would be a problem if someone wanted to promote the White People’s (Men’s) Community College of America. I think that it is all in the name. For a long time, colleges as well have been called that because that's all who were allowed to go. :-) With all of the things mentioned in your question, it was all in efforts to level the playing field.

Equality sounds nice. I don't think anything is ever truly equal though. It's a terrible situation that we are in that has been created by those who came way before us. Now, we are left, living in this mess, trying to clean it up.

in answer to Part of your question YES you can have a white college fund. it has to be done with totally private money(no government help.) but there are actually several schlarships from different etnic clubs such as those of irish german descent etc. i dont think whites have less rights (by the way I am white ,and boy do I love that!!!) but rascism does still exsit and it does need to be wiped out including racism in the black and other minority cultures. i dont disagree with black (or latino or asian etc) magazines and talk shows if all rces can buy or watch them its not discriminatory. but go the ghetto and ask the blacks how they feel about the korean who owns the corner liquor store or ask the middle eastern guy how he feels about the blacks who own the babershop . you will see racism

We can have those kinds of things because we've been persecuted in this country since it's founding.
Slavery + 100 years of Jim Crow did indeed leave their mark on the overall wealth of the black population. We didn't even get civil rights till the 1960s
That means our grandparents had much less opportunities thatn yours (in general) therefore our parents had less opportunities than yours. Which is why we have special scholarships and stuff for black student's nowadays.
You don't see white forum, or white history month because think about it. Whites control everything in this country, and every month is white history month.

The NAACP is for all minorities not just blacks. There one channel for blacks and that's BET. The only channel and you say we as blacks are racist and complaining?! You go to a grocery store and see a very small section of blacks magazines. Whites have forums and talk show like Maury povich,JERRY SPrINGER,tony danza,MARTHA STEWART,DONALD TRUMP CRAP and etc.. on T.V.! well your query will obviously bring a hot debate in here,
but i will try to answer logically,.... all this has to do with all the mistreatment blacks got from whites long time ago, slavery, all those cruel things they encountered in the hands of whites, honestly whites were extremely cruel to blacks, the whites had all they needed while blacks had nothing, blacks dint have rights to education, jobs, good living, hospitals and so on..., the blacks were poor, and no one came to their rescue, even now as we speak still blacks dont have the same equality and access to good jobs, and other things, whites are still enjoying access to whatevr they want compared to blacks who still are fighting for respect and equality. the white government has let this blacks organizations to go on out of guilty of what happened years back. thats why there is black funds for school fees and so on, and not for whites, why... coz most whites are richer compared to blacks.

Basically it shouldn't be separate but equal it should be equal (period!)...cuz we are all family in gods eyes...
I am mixed wit Mexican and white........and i have many black friends and they agree because the school i go to is very racist..........and they agree that black people can call white people honkies and **** but if white people say *****......its all over!!!! For Real!......We should have stations for everybody not just for one color...but i really can't say **** cuz i myself enjoy bet lol.........the school....black people use their grudge with white people about slavery......but tha truth is everybody in that time era struggled not just one effin race! JEWS...LATINS...WHITES..BLACKS...GREEKZ...THA LIST KEEPS GOIN!
