Don't know if I should spend a lot and hope it lasts for many years or spend less and replace it every 2-3 years.

The plastic adirondack style lawn chairs seem to hold up well. We've just used soapy water to clean them every year. Add outdoor cushions & you have very comfortable seating!

I bought some plastic wicker furniture at Meijer last year and it seems to hold up pretty well. I got a love seat, 2 chairs and a coffee table for $400. I noticed that Kroger has some decent less expensive stuff too. Don't buy real wicker, it doesn't last very long. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on it, it gets dirty really quick and the weather can be hard on it.

I would just go for the good stuff. There is some beautiful outdoor furniture at http://www.mygiftshopper.com under the yard and garden category. And right now the shipping is free over 50 dollars. Saves a lot of money!

well wicker rots with moisture and wrought iron gets rusty unless you spray it with clear protective coating for rust or repaint it with rustoleum. I would go with iron.. its long lasting just coat it. plastic breaks and is cheap- wood rots splits and needs coating more so.. invest in long lasting low maintenance stuff.
