okay, I raise rabbits so here it goes.

Rabbits are vertebrate mammals who live and breath, consume and metabolize, reproduce and die. they then decompose.

a pool of water is an element (well 2, H and O hence H2O). it does not live, but supplies life. many things live within a pool of water. water does not die, reproduce, but does regenerate.water can have phase changes, (i.e. ice, vapor, liquid).

hope this helps.
