definitely Kelly Clarkson!! she's really the only one thats super popular. i am a HUGE fan myself, i got all her CDs. here is a list of the most progress american idols have made:
1. Kelly Clarkson
2. Carrie Underwood
3. Fantasia
4. Taylor Hicks (at least he's on a Ford commercial
5. Ruben Studdard (he has done NOTHING!!)

BEst winner as far as productivity is Kelly, although we haven't seen what Taylor will be capable of doing until after the tour is over.
My favorite contestants throughout the show in order:
Taylor (5), Clay(2), Bo(4), Kelly(1), Chris D(5),Reuben(2), and Carrie U(4). I really didn't like anyone in season 3

The best American Idol was Rubben Studard from season 2 because he was very original and had a good singing voice.
