Despite what I said here

I was supporting Portugal. Something to do with the Brazilian connection. But I think it's sad they went out that way again. I think it's a shame for Beckham to go out on this note - he was a credit to the game. But if Rooney uses yesterday as a wake-up call and learns to control his reactive temperament, England could do well in two years time and at the next world cup. That won't be a bad thing.

Though I must admit I would have to switch the radio off for a good ten years if England ever did lift the world cup again.

On a different note, my only theory about why Scotland have done so badly for so many years is that it's a question of mentality. We Scots have forgotten what we're supposed to be proud of, and have become too ready to be victims. It's almost as if some people think England's moderate success is to blame for our lack of success.

As I said before, bugger that. You are what you are. If you can't learn to be that without reference to your neighbours (for affirmation or for negative comparison) then you'll be forever stuck.

I am from Edinburgh living in London and i was sad to see them go. I recieve a lot of stick about being a Scot but at the end of the day we are all one country. England are supporting the Scottish player in Wimbledon even if they wont refer to him as Scottish, instead British, but hey who really cares that much, except for the inwardly strange people who believe in Independance etc.

Next time England......... and hopefully Scotland will qualify too. That would be a fantastic final eh!!!

Fair play to you when Ireland was in the finals English supporters where backing them ( OK England was not playing ) but none the less when any team from our G.B. the whole nation is behind them. People who slat England or any other country are being racist and with that in mind we will never stamp it out. Why can we not live as one we talk about riots, Terrorism and war that happens in the world but we are some times the ones who do not do justice to the cause by being racist because someone is not of our nationality. Live and let live.

No but publicly we have to put on a face that says we are glad for all those mindless morons who think they are doing it for historical reasons. Most of them dont even know their own history but what really saddens me is how the British people seem unable to pull together as a nation. We should all be supporting British sportsmen and women regardless of whether they are English,Scots,Welsh or Irish. When we play each other thats different but that is also where it should stop.
