I do agree with you 100%..I saw the conferance in which he announced his resignment and he looked preposterous and I left with the impression that he might cry..!!

Some of you guys have lost the plot David Beckham is a great captain for his country. The answer to the question is YES David Beckham should of been the captain in the first place because......

1. he provides inspiration for younger players
2. countinously works hard for the good of the team
3.gets going when the going gets tough

I think Beckham is a great player and he is a great captain as well and I was so sad when I found out he resigned!

Why do you say that. He was Englands leader and provided some wonderful goals for his country. He changed his attitude when he was sent off against Argentina it made him a better player and giving him the captains arm band made him more mature. Maybe yes he has given up being captain for England, but who do you think is big enough to take the job on.

At first I thought Beckham was just a (very) pretty face to look at, but after reading up on his contributions to his clubs and England in previous tournaments, I have to take back my words about him being merely a marketable star. He and the rest of the England team might be rather inconsistent, but at their peak, no one can stop them!

He is still capable & he will be able to play more relaxly as a team player than been the captain.
i am not a fan of Backem. yet i understand he is a great player & good captain. Everyone has a bad time.

I think that a captain should be somebody that when the going gets tough, carry his team on his back. He was always a choker. But he used to be a good player.

why is everyone so negetive about david beckham. the players played the best they could out there. and so what is beckham has decided to step down.

Beckham is not the problem. He played well, and is without peer with corner kicks and when crossing from the sidelines. The problem is (was) Erickson. He had no game plan.

football doesnt even require a captain first of all.....
and stop criticizing beckham.....
he and the whole england team did a great job.....
i am proud of them.....
