Dhoni is best at number 7 in test matches because roughly that is when the new ball is taken. He is a good hitter and a good hard ball would suit his style.
For one-day matches, he can come in to bat according to the situation. He has shown in the past that he can bat well at any spot.

12th position. u can say him ghar ka ser because a perfect batsman is the cricketer who can bat on any position 1-11 anywhere. i think the team management should rethink about Dhoni, Yuvraj and MD. Kaif for the Test Squaid. i m not saing that they r bad cricketer but when we r talking about test cricket the batsman should be perfect in technique. the there is a lack of technique in them.

any place when the runs are to be scored rapidly & when the team is in safe position.as he can accelerate the run rate but he has not proved himself as a consistent batsman.
