I too am a nail biter, but what I find to work for me is to get involved in a favorite activity or hobby that will really consume my time and concentration , thereby, have totally taken my mind off my nail biting problem, allowing my nails to grow and look more appealing and not embarrassing, the OTC stop nail biting products may work for awhile, but then you may use it sometimes and other times may forget to use it or just stop altogether, ending in a waste of money, hope this advice help

I used to bite them for yrs and yrs, I started putting nail polish on them and then when I got the urge to bite I would pick the nail polish off, it kept me busy for awhile and I didn't think about biting them. After awhile I lost the urge to bite and now I have nice long nails and have kept them. Try using Sally Hanson hard as nails, its a clear coating that will help your nails get strong, and then put a few coats of nail polish on so u can peel it off easily with your fingers when u get the urge to bite. Hope this helps!

You will have to remind yourself every time you bite them, that you shouldn't do that! It's not healthy at all, because you have so much dirt in there and the best way to stop biting them is to cut them very short and if this seems to you very difficult, tell your family to keep an eye on you, so whenever you do that, they should remind not do that! Trust it me will work, you will need some time to get used, because this is a bad habit and usually with hard work and when you insist the bad habit disappears gradually! Good luck!

This might sound funny, but I stopped biting my nails when I went to the dentist and had my teeth fixed.
My front teeth were sensitive to temperature. I bit my nails to stop my teeth from hurting. And my teeth found my fingernails were less painful than everything else.
It became a really awful habit. I bit my nails to stop my teeth from hurting and my teeth helped my fingernails stop hurting. It was a vicious cycle.
I finally went to the dentist and he noticed that my fingernails were chewed and that my one front tooth that hurt the most was doing all of the chewing.
He fixed my teeth and gave me some night time gloves to wear when I slept. I lined them with hand lotion. When I had the gloves on, my fingers were getting moisturized. Then my hands were not chapped and my fingers were not chapped and I fixed my hands and I fixed my teeth and when they were both not bothering anymore, I ended up not biting my nails.

There's a product that you paint on like nail polish that makes your nails taste really nasty. Give it a try. It's worked for a couple of my friends who bite their nails.

this is an old Trinidadian remedy ... buy fresh aloe (the green plant aloe-maybe from a chinese market) and rub it on ya hands and make sure you put it on ya nails also...
Its all natural -so I wont kill you - but when you go to bite your nails the taste is so BITTER that you will stop putting fingers in ya mouth... It also works wonders for people sucking their thumbs

You can get a solution that you put on your nails (rather like nail varnish) - it tastes really vulgar, so it helps you to stop biting..
